Residence TD

Residential Renovation
2019 - 2020
(unbuilt)
Location:  Minneapolis, MN

Size:  approx. 1,600 sqft

existing / initial massing study

Having been with the current owner for several decades, this two and half story Colonial Revival residence in Minneapolis has undergone several additions to date and awaits another transformation.
LUCITO’s proposed renovation and addition to the rear of the house removes and clarifies past ad hoc additions, while responding to the owners’ daily domestic activities and expansive social lives.
By opening the plan, the new kitchen becomes a spacious gathering and dining area while extending the first floor visually to the backyard gardens. A new central stair core leads upwards to the library and office while simplifying the existing circulation plan and allowing ease of flow between the study and the newly renovated and expanded owner’s suite.  Perched within the surrounding tree canopy, northern ambient light floods the upper floor’s central stairwell and office.
